Staff Testimonial Biography for ESL Course at GEOS Calgary

"I have been teaching for 4 years and have learned as much from my students as I hope they have learned from me. My philosophy of teaching is to create a safe place for students to experience and grow in their understanding of English. I prefer to have students lead the class as I am more of a facilitator that provides many opportunities for students to practice their speaking ability. In any given class, students can participate in many different activities to increase their speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, and grammar skills. Most of these activities require students to be engaged and active in the class. After practicing their skills, students feel more confident to speak with native English speakers when they travel around the city. Enjoy the journey of learning English!!!!"

Our TEC(Teaching English to Children) course starts on Oct 10th!!!!

This 4-week TEC course is designed to give non-native English speakers an overview of Teaching English to Children. The techniques you learn in class will help you in your future career as a children’s English teacher in your home country. The class is based on a hands-on approach. Students will have many opportunities to practice what they’ve learned.

Student Testimonial for ESL Course at GEOS Calgary

Why are you studying English? I want to be a realtor in Japan. If I can speak English, I will be able to help my father’s real estate firm.

How long have you been studying at GEOS Calgary? I have been studying here for almost 4 months.

What was your first impression of GEOS? I had very nice teachers, and everyone was friendly. I felt really comfortable studying here.

What made you decide to come to GEOS? My friend invited me to study here. Then when I talked to Kevin, he explained the importance of speaking English in this school. That’s why I chose GEOS.

What challenges have you had studying English, and how do you overcome them? I really want to improve my speaking, as well as vocabulary. I also want to improve my writing skills. Every night, I do homework. I listen to English books on CD. I study new vocabulary that way.

Do you think your English is improving? I have improved. I have learned new vocabulary, and new grammar. My speaking has also improved, especially my pronunciation and fluency.

What should a student do to become Student of the Month? Don’t speak your own language. Study hard. Make some Canadian friends and hang out with them.
