This warm and colourful month is very exciting for all the people in Calgary because it is the start of the most beautiful season of the year. The City looks green, sunny, cheerful and very active. People enjoy spending their time out and about or relaxing on a patio enjoying the summer sun! This is due in part to our late sunsets. The sun doesn’t go down until almost 10 p.m.!
If you would like to stay in touch with GEOS Calgary, please join our Facebook group! Feel free to also upload pictures and share your experience with your friends and even former students. You can get information on our activities at any time. You can also have a look at our students’ testimonials on our website.
Perry is the Head Teacher at GEOS Calgary!!
Perry Vitalis has been with GEOS Japan, GEOS Taiwan and now GEOS Calgary, for close to 12 years. He has traveled to 20 countries, including such places as the former Yugoslavia, Spain, Thailand and Belgium. Why does he like traveling so much? Perry says: “If I want to be a better teacher, I should understand the problems my students have when they travel and try to communicate in a foreign language. That is why I always try to communicate in the vernacular (the language of the country) when I travel, no matter how low my language skills are. It’s a great experience, and I get a better appreciation of what my students go through.”
We would like to announce that we will have a staggered schedule from next Monday, May 30th. The exact start & finish time will depend on the students’ levels.
In June the Calgary City gives the chance to enjoy the Calgary Jazz Festival from mid to late June (9 days annual event). It is a collection of jazz performers from Canada and around the world.
On June 21 Rihanna will hold a concert at the Scotiabank Saddledome. It is a great opportunity to enjoy a big performance of music and dance. Calgarians enjoy outdoor activities. Calgary has a many places to do various kinds of exercise. For example: cycling, walking, playing soccer, playing tennis, boating, golfing and enjoying fresh air.
At this time it is very common to have a BBQ for lunch or dinner. As well, going to different parks to play and eat with family or friends. It is a part of Canadian culture!
Please see our Study and Work program!!
This program enables students to study and work for equal periods of time. The student must obtain a study visa before entry to Canada. During the study period we assist the student in applying for a co-op visa and finding a work placement!
More than 20 students are in this program now! Check out our website to read testimonials from stuents that have already completed the program!

First I decided to come to GEOS because my cousin recommended to me, and he told me that GEOS is an excellent school to learn English.
My purpose for studying English is to have more opportunities in my life because if I know English I can open a lot of doors.
My first impressions when I came to Calgary were that i didn't believe that I was in Calgary, and far of my family.
My first impression of my homestay was that they would be a very nice family.
My first impressions of GEOS were that I would find a lot of friends there, very nice teachers, and improve my English.
My first impression of my classmates was that I could have fun with them.
And my first impression of my English level was that I could trust myself but I knew to speak was impossible for me, so I had to study hard to improve it.
Now I feel that my English is better than before, I can to speak more, and understanding better, I feel so happy about it.
And my message to people who are thinking about coming to GEOS is: I really recommend GEOS to study English because is easy to learn and you can meet a lot of friends especially from different countries and GEOS has some activities for students.
If you want to learn English easier and faster, study at GEOS.
